"While some professional athletes are making headlines for their taste in the so-called bully breeds, one NBA player has opted for a diminutive terrier. Pets Are People Too of Pembroke Pines, Fla., frequently caters to a celebrity clientele that comes with being only a half-hour’s drive from Miami Beach, but its most recent star sighting was larger than most – by at least a foot. Jerome James, the 7-foot-1-inch, 280-pound center for the New York Knicks, stopped by July 31, 2007, to purchase a female Yorkshire Terrier, who he named Winnie. It seems James was so smitten with his puppy, that he went back the next day and purchased two more Yorkshire Terriers. James, who reportedly lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is a frequent customer, according to Donna Piro, owner of Pets Are People Too. In business for more than two decades, the 6,000-square-foot shop says it has also provided pet services to Mandy Moore and Whitney Houston. "Dear Ms. Bonfini and the all the girls at Teacups, I have been looking and reading about Brussel Griffons for about a year now. Every time I looked around at other breeds I always found myself coming back to this particular little dog. After being referred to TeaCups, I decided to visit. As I looked around and found all of your babies to be very cute, out of all the cute bundles... I found myself looking at a cute little monkey which is now our very own! He is so smart and sweet and the cutest monkey in town. We would like to say thank you for giving us the sweetest little pup we could have ever hoped for! I am sending some pics of our baby who we decided to call "mojo jo jo". We named him after the monkey in the cartoon "The Power Puff Girls". "Dear
Eleonora, I telephoned your shop this morning
with the horrible news that my precious Sophia had been killed. I
want to thank you for being so kind to me. The compassion and caring
in your voice helped me more than you will ever know. It helped to
talk with someone who truly understands the bond we develop with these
wonderful little creatures. The senseless tragedy of Sophia being
taken from us far before her time will haunt my heart for a very long time. When I feel able to open my heart to a new little
furbaby without feeling guilty or like I am "replacing"
Sophie, I will
definitely travel back to Florida to visit your shop. Our little pug
is mourning with me and is doing his best to help mommy through this
difficult time. He has brought all of his toys to me and given them
to me to make me feel better. They are such intelligent, intuitive,
loving beings.
I want you to know that we cherished Sophia for the short time we
had her with us. She had her own swingset that she adored, a car seat
and
a little matching purse for when she went in the
car with us. The one thing most human beings cannot understand is
that I miss the sound of Sophie's little voice. She "talked"
all the time. Even my husband couldn't be mad at her when I helped
her explain in a tiny voice why she did cat things like climbing onto
